Headaches that require Medical Intervention
Headaches That Require Medical Intervention
While many headaches can be managed with rest, physical therapy and lifestyle changes, there are some headaches that require medical intervention. These are the so-called “secondary headaches' ' that are the result of problems in the brain such as strokes, bleeds and tumours. Here are some examples:
- Thunderclap headache: Thunderclap headaches are sudden, severe headaches that develop within seconds or minutes. They are often a sign of a medical emergency, such as a ruptured blood vessel in the brain, and require immediate medical attention. (Thunderclap Headache )
- Headaches with neurological symptoms: Headaches that are accompanied by neurological symptoms, such as blurred vision, weakness, or numbness, may be a sign of a more serious condition, such as a stroke or brain tumor.
- Headaches after a head injury: If you experience a headache after a head injury, it's important to seek medical attention to rule out a concussion or other serious injury.(Headache after a Head Injury)
If you are experiencing any of these types of headaches, please seek emergency medical attention immediately. These headaches are not suitable to be treated with a chiropractic adjustment.
